Globe Studios is a not-for-profit organization located in the former Bonnie Stuart shoe factory at the intersection of Cedar Street and Whitney Place in Kitchener.  Bonnie Stuart specialized in children’s shoes but stopped manufacturing at the Whitney Place plant in 1998. Globe Studios moved into the vacant factory and transformed it into an artist-operated centre with a mandate to provide suitable, safe and affordable working space for practicing artists in the Kitchener-Waterloo and Cambridge regions.

The spring show was held on Friday, May 9 from 4-9 pm. Each Globe studio artist invited an artist of their choice to be their guest and show their work. There was artwork of all mediums on display and available for sale, including paintings, pottery, photography and sculptures. The show gave the public a chance to buy art right from the artists, see inside artist studios and chat with artists about their work.

I've been to a few of the art show and open houses at Globe Studios before, but this was the busiest one I've been to. I can usually find a spot in the parking lot, but this time, the parking lot and nearby streets were full right at 4 pm. I learned later that over 500 people came through in those five hours.

Here's a sampling of some of the art
